American Dream?

“In civilizations without boats, dreams dry up, espionage take the place of adventure, and the police take the place of pirates.”

*The heterotopias keep the dreams alive, and keep the boats afloat, because history and past experiences/memory remind one of dreams and desires. The obsession of the 19th century perhaps the most important slice of the heterotopic timeline because it lead to the idea and philosophy of the heterotopia in itself. Though if espionage taking place of adventure and police removing the pirates than the heterotopias of the world might be dissipating because there is no adventure anymore, the nation or the world even have shifted from the greatness, innocence and wonder of http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XCwO_CQm5jA, and fallen pray to the disenchantment of http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xWpsgXT5_XE

But then again, who knows, perhaps we still have hope for dreams to come true (like the shrinking of the globe- in this time of simultaneity- and coming closer and closer to in time knowledge of the world, and the 19th century obsession that is History)? The exploration of the real heterotopias can take one into the hyper-reals of America- disneyland- and these codes of action and logical thought can bring things into full focus into the heterotopia of both the past, and cultural identifications then, and the now... or more correct, the future and possibilities that make up "the magic of Disney"- America.

Time To Pretend

I'm feeling rough, I'm feeling raw, I'm in the prime of my life.
Let's make some music, make some money, find some models for wives.
I'll move to Paris, shoot some heroin, and fuck with the stars.
You man the island and the cocaine and the elegant cars.

This is our decision, to live fast and die young.
We've got the vision, now let's have some fun.
Yeah, it's overwhelming, but what else can we do.
Get jobs in offices, and wake up for the morning commute.

Forget about our mothers and our friends
We're fated to pretend
To pretend
We're fated to pretend
To pretend

I'll miss the playgrounds and the animals and digging up worms
I'll miss the comfort of my mother and the weight of the world
I'll miss my sister, miss my father, miss my dog and my home
Yeah, I'll miss the boredom and the freedom and the time spent alone.

There's really nothing, nothing we can do
Love must be forgotten, life can always start up anew.
The models will have children, we'll get a divorce
We'll find some more models, everything must run it's course.

We'll choke on our vomit and that will be the end
We were fated to pretend
To pretend
We're fated to pretend
To pretend

Yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah

Time to Go

It's time to go, so put all your clothes on
I've got the keys, baby you're so gone
It's time to go, so put on all your clothes
We're running late, and we both know
'Cause you've got your plans, and you know that I have mine
I fade away, got so little time

So tonight, tonight, let's fade away, let's fade away
Get it all to just one day
Tonight, tonight, oh baby we'll fade away
This is our time, oh yeah
So baby it's time to

Get on the dance floor, pretend you know how
To make 'em all scream, do what they're talking about
Just feel the music, fuck what they're saying
This is the moment, that we've been waiting on

'Cause you've got your plans, and you know that I have mine
I fade away, got so little time
So tonight, tonight, let's fade away, let's fade away
Get it all for just one day
Tonight, tonight, oh baby we'll fade away
This is our time, oh yeah
So baby it's time to go

They said it's time to go
Half dressed, she's walking out the door
And I just thought that I would try to let you know
We'll be a mess around 3 or 4
We all know that I'm fine to go

So tonight, tonight, let's fade away, let's fade away
Get it all for just one day
Tonight, tonight, oh baby we'll fade away
This is our time, oh yeah
So baby it's time to go

So tonight, tonight, let's fade away, let's fade away
Get it all for just one day
Tonight, tonight, oh baby we'll fade away
This is our time, oh yeah
So baby it's time to go

Oh it's time to go
